The Joys of Renting Homes

The very first vacation home that my husband and I rented was this one in Lake Tahoe - for our wedding, no less.

Instead of a large wedding, we wanted to spend quality time with our two families and our closest friends. So we all stayed at this house for a week, during which time my husband and I got married.

After that experience, I could never go back to staying at hotels unless it really can't be helped. The opportunity to stay in beautiful homes all over the world without the burden of owning a single one is such a freakin' pleasure!

Thus the reason for this must have.

And now for a walk down memory lane...

This is a home that we recently rented in Santa Cruz when my mom was visiting us in the Bay Area:

This is the drop-dead gorgeous condo that we rented in Cuscowilla for one of our mini family reunions:

This is the home in Dillon Beach that we rented four different times with my in-laws, brother-in-law, and his family:

This is the 2-story apartment that we rented in Tokyo with my parents and my brother and his family:

We've rented in Albuquerque and Santa Cruz with our good friends the Severs, as well as this place in Klamath Falls:

This is the place in Taipei where we stayed with my parents and with Corrina who flew in from Hong Kong to join us. We also hosted our dear friend Mary (also in town from Hong Kong!) her sister, and other friends and family:

This is the house that we rented with my parents and other extended family during my cousin's wedding in D.C.:

This is the villa in Yangmingshan that we took over for another family reunion, a truly unforgettable experience:

And this is the house at Discovery Bay that we also rented several times with my husband's side of the family:

The list goes on and on, and at the time of this writing, we have already booked three more homes in the coming months.

In other words, we are already living the life that I want, possible because we don't have the burdens of home ownership or a huge mortgage.

Now see why I want to just renovate our condo and be done with it?

Anybody? Anybody?
